Today’s little moments

At the end of a trying week, some little pleasures:

1. Driving on the Benjamin Sheares Bridge with the city lights ahead and curving to my right, and the bay lit by ambient garden lights to my left. Yes yes, it’s all meaningless manmade monuments to Mammon… but with U2 playing in the car and only myself for company, in that moment, the skyline was beautiful.

2. The odd, mist-like drizzle during and after dinner. It was so light, it swirled about with the wind rather than falling in any particular direction. As with all experiences that remind me of the halcyon days of student life in Melbourne, it made me both wistful and happy.

3. Coming home to two adorable cats.

Miss Mopeypants allowed herself to be petted and sayanged for a quarter of an hour. She purred and moped the whole time.

The Sammie-cat was in a proper blue funk – not unlike her mom’s. She allowed herself to be petted for over a quarter of an hour. And she purred and moped the whole time.

4. Fixing the disk errors and permissions on my MacBook Pro’s hard disk. Because the prosaic pleasures are no less pleasurable 🙂
