[Edited 1 Jan 2014] Uncle Leong’s now has an outlet in Jurong East which is now one of my favourites, because it’s rarely crowded and quite well-ventilated although it’s in an open-air kopitiam.
Uncle Leong‘s is one of my favourite seafood restaurants. We first discovered it across the carpark from the fabled Mellben seafood – the same crab bee hoon goodness, but no 1.5 hour queue? SOLD.
They’ve moved out of Ang Mo Kio since then and now have an outlet in Toa Payoh and another in Punggol. My ‘makan gang’ friends prefer the Punggol outlet which is a proper restaurant with air-con, but I’m equally fine with the Toa Payoh one which is a zi-char joint in the midst of an industrial+residential area.
We celebrated Christina’s birthday at Uncle Leong’s Toa Payoh last week and I had a chance to try a few of the non-crab dishes.
It’s also great value – seven of us ate for $175 the other night.
